TEFL Jobs for Volunteers

Stories from Volunteers Teaching English Abroad

Volunteer teaching is a great way to improve your CV while making a real difference to people’s lives. There are opportunities to volunteer with charities and local authorities in Ireland, but if you’d prefer something a little more adventurous, there are loads of exciting volunteer teaching opportunities all over the world

Rosie’s Story

“I volunteered in Sri Lanka through i-to-i so it was really easy to organise. Actually, i-to-i did all the tricky stuff and I just packed my bag! The only preparation I did was the 20 Hour Classroom TEFL Course and it was well worth it. I wouldn’t have known where to start without it and all the games, activities and communication tips were essential.

“I realised on my placement that it really is the simple things in life that make you happy. I did a craft lesson one day with pictures from a magazine and the kids loved it! The kids actually made their own flash cards and we could use them over and over.

“Volunteer teaching helped me to be a better communicator and not to take things for granted so much. I think this will always be a benefit to me. Volunteer teaching helped me get a whole new perspective on life.”
