TEFL Teacher Profile - Marc Harty

TEFL Teacher: Marc Harty
Hometown: Co. Waterford
Teaching Location: South Korea

While Marc Harty was a student he decided he wanted to get TEFL qualified in order to travel and earn money while getting experience once he graduated, he said.

Marc is planning on teaching in South Korea for 12 months but didn’t have any teaching experience prior to his TEFL or a job lined up, he said.

“I’ve noticed that online recruitment agencies seem to have good contacts,” Marc said.

It wasn’t until a year ago that Marc decided TEFL was something he wanted to pursue because of the various benefits, he said.

“Some benefits (are leaning to) understand how to make people understand you, and having the option to go to a variety of different countries to teach English,” Marc said.

Marc is currently just concentrating on getting everything together for his move to South Korea and is looking forward to experiencing a new way of life, he said.

“If your circumstances allow you (to do TEFL), go for it!” he said.
