Before turning toward TEFL and teaching abroad, Julie was in college at Dublin but wanted to gain life experience and experience a new culture abroad, she said.
After hearing about TEFL at the Higher Options recruitment fair, Julie rang up the i-to-i Ireland TEFL team and talked about her various options, she said.
Without any previous teaching experience, Julie said she has set her sights on teaching in Indonesia for a year, as she has always pictured herself doing something similar abroad.
“TEFL opens the door to so many experiences that would otherwise be far fetched,” Julie said.
Along with gaining life changing travel experiences, Julie is also excited about the classroom atmosphere, she said.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the progress in the students and learning more about myself,” Julie said.
With some travel plans lined up already, Julie now is just looking forward to using her qualification and seeing where TEFL can take her next, she said.
“TEFL opens your mind to the possibilities,” Julie said. “Go for it!”
