Whilst teaching practise isn’t essential to get a TEFL job, having some experience under your belt will certainly improve your chances of employment and help you to negotiate your salary.
Swords House, based in Swords, Co. Dublin is an education centre for the Russian speaking community and they run a programme that welcomes TEFL graduates to volunteer teach for a minimum of just 1 lesson. This is a great way to clock up some teaching practise hours as well as an opportunity for networking.
You can also be issued with a letter from Swords House stating your total teaching practise hours to boost your TEFL C.V.
For more information on this opportunity, contact Natalie on 01 890 3484 / 0872775599.

I have just begun a TEFL course and would be interested in gaining soem experience, though it would be in a few weeks when I get more of the course done. Drop me an email if I would be of any use to you.
Thanks, Joe.
Hi Joe,
Thanks for your comment – how is your TEFL training coming? I’ll email you with Natalie’s contact details and you can give her a call.
Hi, I called Swords House and they don’t have any teaching Practice places for me, Do you know of any schools that may be willing to take me on for teaching practice or even to observe the teacher to pick up some teaching tips?
Thanks,
Anita (Dublin)
Hi Anita,
That’s a shame – I was just on the i-to-i TEFL facebook page there and a lady called Kati Yamanaka is looking for some volunteer teachers for Ashbourne. Meath – is that too far to travel? Another suggestion would be to volunteer on a programme like Vaughan Town out in Spain for a week, if you have some free time between Feb – Oct. You need to organise your flights to Madrid but they look after you once you get there, you can apply online. Hope this helps!
